Welcome to Using the AEDI. The Australian Early Development Index (AEDI) is a population based measure of how children have developed by the time they start school. It looks at five areas of early childhood development: physical health and wellbeing, social competence, emotional maturity, language and cognitive skills, and communication skills and general knowledge.

Using the AEDI will help you understand your community's AEDI results and then use the results to engage your community and plan actions to better support local children and their families. The Guide consists of three parts and should be viewed consecutively. Click ‘Start’ at the bottom right of your screen to begin.
