Evaluate the action plan

The final step is to develop a process to evaluate the success of your Action Plan. This is the start of an ongoing, long-term process which needs to be both rigorous and well-planned.

There are two main types of evaluation, each with different evaluation methods.

  • A process evaluation provides information about the action plan's processes and activities.  Process evaluation methods are usually qualitiative and include statisfaction surveys, group discussions, audits of participation rates and summary reports.
  • An impact evaluation provides information about whether the plan has achieved, or has moved towards achieving, its objectives. Impact evaluation methods are usually quantitative and involve a carefully planned experimental design to meausure impact over time.
